My mother called me yesterday after having lunch with her friend Carol (they had run into each other at one of my shows after losing touch for a long time).
Over the course of lunch, Carol told my mother about how her 9 year old granddaughter, Skylar, had gotten kidnapped and raped and killed last year. And afterwards, she looked at my mother and said “do you think that Jesse could write a song for us?”
People ask me to write songs all the time, about any number of things. Most of the time I don’t (not because I don’t want to, but because I never know when songs are going to happen). But this time I got one.
So this is the demo for “Skylar”. Wasn’t actually planning on showing it to anyone except Carol, but hey, you guys seem nice. And maybe it’ll help a little bit.
